Tabaa, al-Manzari discuss precautionary measures in schools, reinforcing cooperation

Damascus, SANA_ The precautionary measures adopted in Syrian schools to limit the spread of coronavirus pandemic were discussed by Education Minister Dr. Darem Tabaa, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Ahmed Al-Manzari, WHO Representative to Syria, Dr Akjemal Magtymova and the accompanying delegation.

They also reviewed means of reinforcing the cooperation between Syria and the WHO.

In a statement to Journalists, Tabaa underlined that the ministry’s precautionary measures, adopted since the schools’ opening, are in accordance with the health protocol and in cooperation with health ministry and WHO and international organizations.

He pointed out to the importance of exchanging experiences in this regard and presenting the Syrian experience, which has met positive indications despite the siege and unilateral coercive economic measures that Syria is subjected to.

Minister Tabaa talked about the ministry’s keenness to provide the necessary health care for its students and teachers and to maintain their safety and the safety of their families.

There is no spread of the epidemic in schools and there are natural cases as a result of the spread of the disease in the society and are directly monitored and dealt with in accordance with the health protocol, according to Tabaa.

In a similar statement, al-Manzari said that that the return of students to schools is one of the challenges that the world faced in light of the spread of the Corona epidemic.

He pointed out to the strategic plans adopted in coordination with the specialized technical teams, UNICEF and their counterparts in the relevant ministries to ensure a safe return for students and teachers and regarding the application of precautionary safety measures in Syrian schools.

WHO Regional Director praised the efforts of the concerned authorities in raising awareness and introducing methods of protection and safety for a safe return to schools.
